My computer shuts down randomly. The green power light turns orange and it won't restart. I have to hold power off for 10 seco

Computer shuts down down randomly.  The green power light turns orange and it won't restart.  I have to hold power off for 10 seconds.   It won't start for up to an hour, then shuts down again.  The fans are working and the case is clean.

It's a 3 year old Dell on XP.

It could be heating problem. Make sure you check the temprature given in the BIOS settings page normally under the health section. If it is too high, the fan are probably not working effectively even if they are rotating.
