How to Upgrade Your Computer's RAM
Can you guide me on how can I upgrade your computer's ram.
- Check your computer's manual for the type of RAM modules you need as motherboards only take 1 type.
- Power down your computer then unplug it. Open the case.
- Ground yourself using an antistatic wrist strap to protect the circuits of your computer.
- Check your computer's manual to determine which RAM sockets to
fill. You may need to remove obstructions that are in the way. Should
you need to remove the RAM that is currently in there then push down on
the clips located on the side of the RAM socket. The module will pop
out. - Open the new RAM module envelope and, holding it by the edges,
place it on top of the envelope. Push down the latches at the edge of
the RAM socket and line up the notch on the module with the bump on the
socket. Gently push the module in to the socket. - Put your computer back together and turn it on. Keep an eye on
the screen to make sure that the new RAM is recognized. If it is not
recognized then restart the computer and enter the CMOS setup program
that can be found by following the onscreen prompts.
