Can you help me on how to use a tilde in a windows document.

Tilde is the character that looks like '~'. Find the key on your keyboard. It generally to the left of number key '1'. It normally has the backtick character '`' along-with as well.

Press SHIFT and press that key and you should be able to see the tilde character on the screen.
